Cyperus helferi is a graceful, grass-like aquarium plant renowned for its long, ribbon-shaped leaves that gently sway with the water current. Native to Southeast Asia, it is one of the few true aquatic sedges and is highly prized for adding height, movement, and a natural appearance to planted aquariums.
Its elegant, arching leaves make it an excellent choice for the background or as a striking focal point in larger aquascapes. Under medium to high lighting and nutrient-rich conditions, Cyperus helferi develops lush, flowing foliage that creates a beautiful sense of depth and motion. While it can grow without CO₂, supplementation encourages faster growth, fuller plants, and healthier leaves.
This unique plant pairs beautifully with stem plants, carpeting plants, and driftwood, making it a favorite for nature-style and jungle aquascapes.
