Rotala Mexicana 'Araguaia' is a unique and highly sought-after stem plant known for its narrow, slightly wavy leaves and rich reddish-brown to burgundy coloration. Unlike most Rotala species, its leaves have a more textured appearance, giving it a distinctive look that adds depth and contrast to any planted aquarium.
This slow to moderate-growing plant thrives in medium to high lighting and develops its most intense colors with CO₂ supplementation and regular fertilization. Its compact growth habit makes it ideal for the midground, where it can be trimmed into dense, eye-catching bushes or used as a striking accent plant.
Although it requires a little more care than beginner stem plants, Rotala Mexicana 'Araguaia' rewards aquascapers with exceptional color, texture, and a truly unique appearance.
